About Chef Amy Nadeau

Amy has been working in the food industry for 15 years. It was her experiences living abroad in Italy that ignited her passion for food.

“The way that the Italians cared for produce was so gentle and loving.  It peaked my curiosity about food and where it comes from, the farms and its people.  I began to familiarize myself with types of fruits and vegetables and how to bring out the best in each of them.”

Graduating Merrimack College with a degree in Political Science Amy first educated herself through her work in wine and beverage sales in San Francisco and Rochester,NY, before coming to Boston and working for a food wholesaler.

Amy wanted to be more hands on with the food, and to learn the techniques of a chef she enrolled in the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (C.I.A.), Hyde Park, NY to learn her craft.

During her 2 years at the C.I.A., she became Serve Safe Certified, won awards and graduated with honors. Upon graduation, she moved back to Boston where she worked at the original Ritz Carlton Dining Room and Café in Back Bay, Ristorante Toscano’s on Charles Street in Beacon Hill, Gourmet Catering in Roslindale, the world renowned Rialto in Cambridge and gave numerous private lessons and took part in catering opportunities. Using the experience and skills acquired through working in these prestigious restaurants, in 2007 Amy started her own private cooking and consulting company, Classic Cookery.

“It is my hope that I can open a window for people to see the joy of cooking for their families and friends, and to achieve a level of confidence that makes cooking fun. “
